Prostate Problems
There are three main prostate problems: Benign prostatic hypertrophy
(BPH) , Prostatitis in various forms, and Prostate Cancer.
Benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) or enlarged
prostate occurs when, in response to hormones such as testosterone,
the cells in the inner core of the prostate gland grow and put
pressure on the urethrae causing pain and problems urinating.
BPH can lead to prostatitis, and in severe cases the bladder's
inability to empty completely can cause infection to spread in
the bladder and even to the kidneys, possibly causing kidney damage.
BPH will affect around half of all of men during their lifetimes.
So if you have any symptoms of BPH you are definitely not alone;
you just think you are because most men never speak of their discomfort.
Prostatitis is an inflammation of the prostate
gland. The term prostatitis describes a wide spectrum of disorders
ranging from acute bacterial infection to chronic pain syndromes.
Prostatitis describes a wide number of maladies with variable
etiologies, prognoses and treatments. Unfortunately, these conditions
have not been well studied, and most recommendations for treatment
are based primarily on case series and anecdotal experience. Prostatitis
can be a challenging condition to treat.
The following conditions are a list of prostate related problems.
It is always best ot see your doctor if you think you have a prostate
problem.
