Scientific Lab Results
This in Vitro efficacy study was conducted at the Jack Bell Prostate Cancer Research Center at Vancouver General Hospital.
This study demonstrates what effect our unique Small Flowered Willow Herb (epilobium parviflorum) extract has on prostate cancer cells.
There are three graphs below. The first graph shows a Small Flowered Willow Herb Tea, the second shows a Leading brand Bladder Prostate Tea, the third shows our FDP-1 extracted Small Flowered Willow Herb in PRO-5X.
The three cell lines used in this study:
- LNCaP: this cell line (clone) represents a true prostate cancer cell line it has the complete 5-alpha reductase enzyme system in place. This system converts testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, known to be a cancer causing factor.
- DU145: cell line does not contain the androgen system and are more conducive to normal prostate cells.
- PC-3: cell line does not contain the androgen system and are more conducive to normal prostate cells.
What we are looking for is this efficacy study is a reduction of LNCaP to show the termination of prostate cancer cells.
Graph A - SFWH Tea
Small Flowered Willow Herb Tea: This tea is organically grown and selected for potency by a patent pending High Pressure Liquid Chormatography (HPLC) methodology. It is made up in the same concentration range as the BPT for comparison. The two teas are comparable, both showing activity at less than 1 mg/ml, for the normal cell lines, however, the cell line with the androgen receptor shows a dramatic effect, down to 40% cell viability at less than 1 mg/ml. The formulation contains only the organically grown Small Flowered Willow Herb.
Graph B - Leading Saw Palmetto Prostate Tea
Bladder Prostate Tea:This product is a popular brand of herbal tea formulated to treat prostate hyperplasia and cancer. Note that the concentration range of powdered tea in the water solution is in mg/ml. This tea affects both the androgen-dependent and the androgen-independent cell lines. Activity is seen below 1 mg/ml with cell viability at approximately 70%. This formulation contains Saw Palmetto as well as three other herbs with known prostate activity.
Graph C - Our SFWH Extract in PRO-5X
Pro-5X FDP-1 Extract: The extract is prepared through a patent pending process using no solvents other than pure water. The extract is prepared at a concentration range 10 times lower than the previous two samples. Note that maximum activity occurs at roughly 125 ug/ml this is ten times less than the tea preparation, however the cell viability has gone to 0%.
Small Flowered Willow Herb (Epilobium parviflorum) contains many compounds with known medicinal properties such as phenolics, flavoglycosides and Oenithin A and B. The extraction procedure used to create this product concentrates all of the useful actives into a fine, water soluble, powder, with greatly enhanced activity.
The three cell lines used in this study, were LNCaP: this cell line (clone) represents a true prostate cancer cell line it has the complete 5-alpha reductase enzyme system in place. Plus the DU145 and PC-3 cell lines which do not contain the androgen system and are more conducive to normal prostate cells.
This data demonstrates the dramatic effect of the Pro-5X FDP-1 extract on the androgen system of prostate cancer cells. This, androgren system effect, indicates efficacy in treating prostate hyperplasia. In addition, it proves itself to be very effective in killing prostate cancer cells.
